Kelmscott Manor: Past, Present and Future
Nearly five years ago, the Society of Antiquaries of London organised a small fund-raining auction to kick-start an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund to secure the future of Kelmscott Manor, William Morris’s ‘heaven on earth’.
Last November, the Society was generously awarded £4.7m by the HLF, to which has been added some £700,000 donated by Fellows of the Society, Trusts and other supporters.
Work will begin later this year. Now, as summarised recently in Antiques and the Arts Weekly, the Kelmscott Manor Campaign group is targeting a further £800,000 to ensure that all the ambitions of the project are fully met.
