TEFAF, Maastricht, 2020: a celebration of Regency design – and more
For three generations, H. Blairman & Sons has enjoyed a reputation for Regency design.
On the occasion of the bicentenary of the Prince Regent’s accession as George IV, we are devoting a substantial part of our stand at TEFAF, Maastricht to furniture and works of art created in England during the first quarter of the nineteenth century: the ‘Regency Period’.
We have produced this online-only catalogue, with an introductory essay ‘From Thomas Hope to ‘Vogue Regency’ and beyond: the growing appreciation of Regency design during the twentieth century’. The catalogue includes twenty-one items offered for sale.
Click here to view or download a PDF of the catalogue.
In addition to our celebration of ’Regency’, we shall also exhibit significant works from the later nineteenth and early twentieth centuries: a candelabrum designed by A.W.N. Pugin, exhibited in 1849; a painted cabinet designed by Gualbert Saunders for his own use (see below), some ‘pretentious’ plates manufactured by Minton for Mabel Morrison, and a ‘Bedales’ table designed by Ernest Gimson.
